Who We Are

Ali Bennett
Founder & Artistic Director
Alison is an actor, writer and clown. She is the Artistic Director & founder of Hurrah Hurrah through which she has co-created, The Cardinal Rules (Merrigong X) Dolly’s Miracle Hoard (Brand X), Introducing Aunty Jude (Seymour Centre & Riverside Theatres), TRADE (the Old 505 Theatre Sydney and Bakehouse Theatre Adelaide), Roomba Nation (The Old 505 Theatre), Frenzy for Two (Woollahra Council Artist’s Residency) and The Seagull (The Rocks Pop Up Project). Her recent credits include Blank Canvas (Bus Stop Films, dir. Katharine Rogers), The Lonely Spirit’s Variety Hour (dir. Platon Theodoris), The PM’s Daughter (ABC Me dir. Julietta Boscolo), Fluffy (Sydney Festival, dir. Curly Fernandez) & Join the Dots (Sydney Festival/Sydney Opera House/Spiral Tokyo, dir. Frank Newman). She trained at École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in France. She has a Bachelor Performing Arts (Drama) from Monash Uni and an MFA (Writing for Performance) from NIDA.

Alison has 5 cats (yep) and 5 brothers and sisters. She loves a bit of kung fu and boxing and she once broke both her ankles at the same time...in a rehearsal, for Hurrah Hurrah.

Rose Maher
Artistic Associate
Originally from Canberra, Rose Maher is an actor, clown theatre maker and puppeteer. Rose became connected with Dharawal Country while completing Honours in Creative Arts (Theatre & Performance) at the University of Wollongong. Rose continued her professional training internationally with the Shakespeare & Company (Massachusetts) and Ecole Philippe Gaulier (France). Professional credits include Grace Under Pressure (2017), The Big Think Festival, a national tour of Quite Faith (2018), Let Me Know When You Get Home (2021), National Theatre of Parramatta, Arc by Erth (2022) Sydney Opera House, Coil by Regroup Performance Collective (National Tour) (2023). Rose has practiced in residencies with Shopfront Theatre, Digital Artist Residency with Merrigong Theatre & Performing Lines and MerrigongX. Rose was the recipient of the Ian Potter Culture Trust grant (2018) which led to employment with Ministry of Education delivering English language shows to primary students in France. While in Europe, Rose joined The Wonder Jam at the Edinburgh Fringe, and the international clown collective The Lost Cabaret producing live late-night cabaret shows in Paris. Rose has worked in an ongoing capacity as a therapeutic clown with The Starlight Children’s Foundation and is currently a Clown Doctor with the Humour Foundation. 



Alex Travers
General Manager
Alex Travers is a Creative Producer with a passion for community-engaged practice. Alex trained at École Jacques Lecoq in Paris and has worked as the Creative Producer (Outreach + Community) for Think+DO Tank Foundation, Program Manager - Children & Young People at NIDA Open and as Education Coordinator for Ensemble Theatre. Alex is currently the Associate Artist at Milk Crate Theatre and a Teaching Artist with Belvoir St. Alex sits on the Board of Directors for Tantrum Youth Arts based in Newcastle, NSW. 
 
Alex has been awarded mentorships and residencies with National Theatre of Parramatta, KXT, Express Media, ATYP, Montague Basement x bAKEHOUSE, Carclew and Tantrum Youth Arts, and was awarded a Young Regional Artist Scholarship by Create NSW. Alex's work is published in This Was Urgent Yesterday (Currency Press, 2020). Alex was shortlisted for the Stoddart Playwright Award in 2022.
