Ali Bennett
Artistic Director & Founder
As the Artistic Director of Hurrah Hurrah Ali has co-created and produced the award winning ‘The Cardinal Rules’, ‘Dolly’s Miracle Hoard’, ‘TRADE’, ‘Roomba Nation’, ‘Introducing Aunty Jude’, ‘The Seagull’ and ‘Frenzy for Two’.
She has created large scale play based installations and digital programs with The Sydney Opera House including ‘Motion Capture Storytelling’, ‘Alien Rescue Mission’, ‘International Jazz Day’, ‘LEGO Play’ and multiple ‘Creative Play’ installations.
She is currently in development with NORPA for their new work ‘Dinner Party’ directed by Julian Louis and written by Suzie Miller. She co-devised and performed ‘Join the Dots’ (Sydney Festival/Sydney Opera House/Spiral Tokyo, dir. Frank Newman) and ‘Fluffy’ (Sydney Festival, dir. Curly Fernandez). Other recent credits include ‘Stimming’ (Ffunky Monkey Films, dir. Katherine Rogers), ‘Blank Canvas’ (Bus Stop Films, dir. Katharine Rogers) & ‘The Lonely Spirit’s Variety Hour’ (dir. Platon Theodoris).
When she isn’t making shows, Alison is a Clown Doctor with Clown Doctors Australia where she is known as Dr Squish.
Alison has a Bachelor Performing Arts (Drama) from Monash Uni, she trained at the Lecoq School of Theatre in France and has an MFA (Writing for Performance) from NIDA.
