impro for  performance making

2 Day / 3 Hour/ Week long intensive

We all know the rules of improv: 'yes and' & 'never say no' & 'don't ask questions'. These are all vital tools of improvisation BUT, sometimes in rehearsals rooms, these rules get in the way of making scenes that are part of something bigger.

This workshop reinforces basic frameworks of improvisation and then looks at them from different angles in order to make them useful to making new work. Participants will do exercises which encourage somatic storytelling before text and focus on developing action rather than words.

Participants will be working physically and imaginatively. All bodies are welcome.

This workshops consists of physical, vocal and scene based improvisation exercises.

This workshop is ideal for ensembles wanted to push into new areas of theatrical storytelling, teachers wishing to extend their knowledge, solo artists looking for ways to generate material, directors wishing to develop methods for actors processes and for improvisors looking for a challenge.

This workshop will cover:

-The neutral mask

-Deep listening exercises

-Understanding the rules

-Breaking the rules

Everyone raved about this workshop for weeks!! It was such a bespoke approach to clown that maximised fun and really pushed me in the best way. I can’t recommend it enough.

ALWAYS WAS, ALWAYS WILL BE

HH acknowledges  the  Wangal and Gadigal lands of the Eora nation on which we create. We pay our respects to the custodians of these lands and we recognise that all country was stolen. These lands were never ceded. We honour the millennia of storytellers who have been working and playing here since the beginning.
